Resilience

This week's Self-Care Wednesday happened to be Ash Wednesday. Lent is a season of learning to commit and sustain. It's about cultivating resilience.

What is resilience?

Resilience is the ability to recover from life’s challenges.

Resilience is composed of 5 elements:

  1. Community

  2. Compassion

  3. Confidence

  4. Commitment

  5. Centering

Resilience is a skill! Lent is about cultivating that skill. How are YOU going to develop resilience during this time of Lent? How can YOU build your connections, prioritize your relationships?

You can care for yourself first, and then expand that to the universe with your connections and relationships, your community or by joining a group.

Take care of your body, look back to those New Year’s Resolutions. Practice mindfulness: take a moment to breathe in: “Oh well,” and exhale: “so what?”

Help others. Step outside of yourself and extend a hand. This is self-care, too!

When we learn how to become resilient, we learn how to embrace the beautifully broad spectrum of the human experience. Expand through challenges and love that human experience!
